Protecting Your Appliances

Most of the new appliances on the market use control boards to improve user function and energy savings. All boards are susceptible to power surges or lighting strikes. The best way to protect all of your appliances (from your toaster to your refrigerator) would be adding a whole house surge protector to your breaker panel. The best and safest way is to call your local electrician to install this. The second best way is buying single outlet surge protectors like you use for your computer, but for single outlet protectors it’s less expensive. Keep in mind all surge protectors can go bad after taking a surge, so if you use them make sure if you are having a problem with an appliance, try running the appliance without the protector before calling for service.
