Getting Rid of Odor in your Refrigerator

If your fridge stops cooling or if food goes bad while you’re out of town and leaves a foul odor in your refrigerator or freezer, a successful way to remove the odor is to turn the fridge off, remove the contents and ball up newspaper and fill the fridge with as much newspaper as you can fit. Once the fridge is full of newspaper, leave the doors ajar for 24-48 hours. Once the odor is gone, remove the newspaper, turn the fridge back on and the odor should be gone. Once you use this technique, the fridge will be left smelling like newspaper. Adding Arm & Hammer fridge packs of baking soda to your fridge and freezer will help remove this newspaper smell.

If the odor problem is not severe try using the fridge packs of baking soda in your refrigerator and/or freezer. These will keep your fridge smelling fresh and your food tasting fresh. These baking soda packs are inexpensive and can be purchased at your local grocery store (usually on the same aisle as regular baking soda) – you should replace them once a month.
