Do you wish your appliances lasted longer than their warranty?
Tips from Appliance Specialists, LLC to help….
Keep your appliances running by maintaining your appliances:
- Clean your dryer vent (inside & outside) – this will help dry your clothes faster, save energy and help prevent a fire
- Clean your refrigerator condenser coil under the kick-plate (do this more often if you have pets)
- If your dishwasher has an odor, try running a cup of vinegar through a regular cycle with an empty dishwasher
- Clean your washing machine to keep it smelling fresh (use the bleach cycle or a washing machine cleaner purchased where you buy laundry detergent)
Ways to save before calling an Appliance Specialist:
- Check the power source (have you unplugged or moved the appliance lately?)
- If your dishes are not coming out as clean as you would like, try switching to a different soap (we recommend you try Cascade Complete powder and make sure your Jet Dry is full)
- Make sure you heat the water going to your dishwasher (by running a stream of HOT water in your sink) before starting your dishwasher
- If your icemaker is not making ice, make sure the arm is down on the icemaker or the switch is set to “on”, also make sure the water is turned on at the shut-off
- Sometimes the computer boards in new appliances get confused, if your appliance is not working properly, unplug your appliance for 3-5 minutes, plug back in and try again
Ways to save when buying a new appliance:
- Shop the “Scratch N Dent” aisle at your local appliance store
- If color is not a priority, ask if a specific color is less expensive
- If features are not important to you, ask if there is a “basic model” – a base washer may not wash your clothes 50 different ways, but you will save money on the initial purchase and replacement parts are usually less expensive
